I create art based on an attraction or urge, and once I become involved with the subject it becomes a journey of deep exploration. I metaphorically crawl in and out of the working surface asking the subject whether it be animal, human-like or flora: “Who are you? What does it feel like to stroke your fur or feel sun on your skin?” “What message do you have for me?”
I have always been driven by the urge to learn and uncover deeper meanings, including looking at myself. Who am I, why am I here, what can I do to help this world? This trait kept me sane as I met my particular life challenges. A part of me observed while the other part experienced the life-changing event.
In 2013 I studied with visionary artist Shiloh Sophia and her method of Intentional Creativity which uses visualization, journaling and painting to get access to internal feminine images. For me, the technique has healed and expanded my life. In 2015 I became certified as a SoulCollage® facilitator, another method I find useful for personal use and in teaching.
Over the past 30 years I have had several careers including applications programming, marketing and financial consulting, but in my heart I have always been an Artist. Before I entered the corporate world I was an Artist and an Explorer and now I have returned, wiser and richer for the obstacles I overcame and learning firsthand that we must uncover and embrace our Authentic Self. Nothing else will substitute.
